Divorce, custody, maintenance — hard enough in one country, harder in two. We handle the Spanish side and coordinate the rest.
Much of our family practice is international: marriages of two nationalities, children with homes in two countries, assets on both sides. We advise on which country’s courts and law apply, negotiate agreements wherever possible, and litigate in the Spanish courts when necessary — always keeping the temperature as low as the case allows.
Spanish proceedings run through the family courts of Arona and Granadilla de Abona in Tenerife South and Puerto del Rosario in Fuerteventura; agreements can often be closed faster before a notary. Cross-border enforcement follows the EU rules we work with daily.

Family — what clients ask first.
Can we divorce in Spain if we married abroad?
Usually yes, if you live here — EU rules generally give the Spanish courts jurisdiction over residents, whatever the wedding's country. Which law applies to the divorce and to your assets is a separate question we check case by case.
How does custody work for international families?
Spanish judges decide on the child's interest, and shared custody is common. What is critical in cross-border families: neither parent may relocate the children abroad without the other's consent or a court order.
Do we have to go to court?
Not necessarily. A divorce with agreement can be signed before a notary when there are no minor children, and agreed proceedings in court are far faster and calmer than contested ones. We push for agreement wherever it is realistic.
What if my ex is hiding income or assets?
Spanish procedure has tools — court-ordered financial disclosure, registry searches, banking traces. Maintenance and division are argued on evidence, and we know where to look for it.
